What Happens to Your Body When You Hold Your Fart?

Why Do We Fart?

Fart is the release of gastric juices that are formed as a result of digestive food. When the gas buildup so much in the body due to the buildup of the excess gas in the stomach, we fart. This happens due to some reasons given below.

  1. As we take swallowed air throughout the day. It includes carbonated drinks and takes air while chewing all day long.
  2.  It can also happen due to the growth of bacteria into the intestine. This bacteria grows due to celiac diseases and liver diseases.
  3.  This can happen due to smoke or drinking excess alcohol.
  4.  When you eat food that is hard to digest by the enzymes in the small intestine, bacteria transform a portion of this food into hydrogen and carbon dioxide, as consumed carbohydrates partly enter the colon.

What Happens If You Hold Your Fart?

When you have an unhealthy buildup of gastric juices, it can lead to bloating. This can be very awkward and embarrassing, too, as your stomach begins to make gurgling sounds. Whenever you fart, the gas travels from your intestines to your rectum and then escapes by your anus. However, by clamping your fins, you will generally hang on to a wick for some time while your anal muscles are stiffened. If you get success in holding your fart, the gas will find some other route to get out from the body, i.e. via the mouth. There are some side effects of holding the fart are:

  • Heartburn
  • Gallbladder problems
  • Indigestion
  • Pain
  • Constipation
  • Intestinal Infections

The Final Takeaway

The healthiest thing to do in farts is to let them go. However, it’s possible to keep them back if you need to because it will not hurt you. Only be prepared for a little pain.
